Witnessing to a Muslim

There is a person on Facebook who claims to be a Muslim. One of the things he said was that “Jesus as son of God is a myth.”

Now, one of the things a Muslim believes is that Jesus was a prophet of God, and they believe and teach a prophet of God does not lie.

Bringing to the Muslim’s attention what he said and what he believes in his own religion, I showed him where Jesus said Himself that He claimed to be the Son of God.

In John 10:36, Jesus said, “Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?”

Obviously, Jesus was being accused of blasphemy for claiming to be God’s Son. Jesus claimed this in the previous chapter – John 9:35-38 – where Jesus had just healed the man born blind, and the Pharisees cast the healed man out of the synagogue.

“Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshiped him.”

According to the Muslims (as well as Christians), only God can receive true worship, and a Muslim would have to admit this if you ask him.   Jesus, who cannot lie, not only claimed to be the Son of God, but also received worship only as God could.

If the Muslim were intellectually honest, he would have to admit that Jesus is the Son of God.  If he denies Jesus’ claim, then he really doesn’t believe what his own religion teaches, and makes Jesus, a prophet of God, a liar!
